Our Achievements
Through years of dedicated work, Moving Roots Foundation has created transformative programs that bridge art, health, and cultural education. We’ve empowered individuals and communities across California and Guatemala, fostering resilience and creative growth.
This has been developed through free workshops and sessions, some of the most recent being movement and somatic workshops led by Barry Goldwasser through Rooted Coaching in Berkeley. These have created a space for connection with the body and opened the doors to writing and creativity flowing through the guided movement proposed in his sessions.
As part of the social work in the Guatemalan region, specifically in the department of Petén, there is a house (Casa Caléndula) located in a village called El Remate. It has been opened to host residencies, welcoming artists, writers, and teachers who, during their stays, have shared their experiences with the local community. At the end of April 2026, a three-month course will conclude, during which English classes have been held three times a week for four different age-based groups to improve the focus of the lessons.
For May 2026, several other gatherings are being planned, such as a clothing exchange event and a women’s space in Northern California, as well as the creation of courses developed collaboratively between Leaf Tales and Kapok on body awareness, somatics, and herbalism.
Additionally, Rooted Coaching is planning a series of movement and creativity workshops for youth in the California region for this summer.
