Research-Creation

This area is dedicated to creative thinking that emerges from embodied experience and connection to the body. It seeks to integrate knowledge from different disciplines with the somatic field.

There are currently two ongoing research projects:

The first explores the effects of patriarchal, capitalist, and racist systems on our bodies. It also examines how the somatic experience of our organs and brains allows us to navigate both social environments and our internal bodily world.

The second explores the aesthetic experience of movement and the rhythms of our organs and bodily fluids. From this research, a movement methodology is being developed.

Research-creation grounded in somatic experience also gives rise to artistic pieces.

Kapok offers trauma-informed somatic therapy.

This work is complemented by practices and knowledge from music therapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
